New YOGA For Youth Partnerships in 2015: Wake County

2015 has been a year of growth for our Y.O.G.A. For Youth NC regional branch, and we could not be more excited about all our new partnerships!

This summer, we expanded into two new Wake County sites with Passage Home and Track My Steps. Passage Home is an organization working to break cycles of poverty in the communities they serve in Wake County.

“This morning our teachers held a short ceremony for the teens to acknowledge their participation and affirm their greatness! Each child was received a certificate, an eye pillow they made, and special words of affirmation. They were also encouraged to take the skills they have learned from Y.O.G.A. for Youth with them and practice at home and in school.” -Sherita Young, YFY Teacher at Passage Home

Y.O.G.A. For Youth also participated in Track My Steps, a program dedicated to closing achievement gaps in schools one county at a time. We worked with K-6th youth at the Chavis Community Center in Raleigh. Toshiba Rice, the director of Wake County Track My Steps program, had this to say about YFY: “Thank you so much for all that Y.O.G.A. For Youth has done with Track My Steps.  I can not begin to tell you how amazing it was to see families engaged in Yoga!”
