Hero of the Month: Amanda May

Amanda May

RYT 200, CYT, Reiki Master (RM)

Amanda was part of the 2014 Y.O.G.A. for Youth Teacher training and became involved immediately. She is full of enthusiasm and fresh ideas, working to raise funds and make connections for future programming. She’ll also be teaching with Y.O.G.A. for Youth in 2015.
Thank you, Amanda!

A fairly recent transplant to the Triangle area, Amanda could be considered something of a travelling yogi.  She has over 21 years of experience living and working internationally.

A spinal fracture from a horseback riding accident when she was young left her with pain at an early age.  She began practicing yoga in 1993 and it changed her life.  Yoga was her pathway to healing, and she quickly discovered the deeper benefits that extended beyond the body to mind and spirit.

Amanda is a householder and a parent of 2 teenagers, and has been teaching Kundalini yoga since 2008.  In addition to regular weekly classes, she has taught yoga and meditation in elementary schools, designed a hospital course for cancer patients and survivors, taught in the corporate environment and led various workshops and destination retreats.

Her classes are imbued with energy and inspiration, bringing a deep sense of peace and healing to participants.  She is passionate about helping people connect to their own innate brilliance and joy.  She presently teaches weekly open-level classes in Durham and Raleigh:

Tuesdays 8:30 – 9:30 am yoga | Thursday 8:30 – 9:30 am yoga | Fridays 12:30 – 1:30 yoga & 1:45 – 2:30 meditation

at Mid-South Fencers Club, 125 N. Gregson St., Durham

Sundays 10:45 – 11:45 yoga

at Blue Lotus, 401 N. West Street, #105  Raleigh
