Graduate Profile: 2013 Y.O.G.A. for Youth Teacher Training

Victoria recently fulfilled her dream of being a trained yoga instructor by completing the Y.O.G.A. for Youth Summer 2013 training. This past Winter she completed her 200 level yoga teacher training.

Why Y.O.G.A. for Youth?  After having a home yoga practice for many years, I missed the opportunity to train with Krishna Kaur back in the early 2000’s.  Information on Krishna’s Kundalini programs and training came across my desk when I was working for Los Angeles Unified School District.  Fast forward to 2013… I was so excited when I came across Krishna Kaur’s picture on a Summer 2013 training flier at the Durham Library.  That moment, the choice was made to take the opportunity this time!

Favorite Part of Y.O.G.A. for Youth Teacher Training: My favorite part of the training was connecting with like-minded folks. We were all such different people with different backgrounds. We shared stories that were very meaningful and healing.  This bonding experience coupled with practicing Kundalini helped me to be a more empathic yoga instructor which is paramount in teaching urban youth.

Advice for Those Considering the Training: My advice to anyone interested in the training: Fasten your seat belt– it’s going to be a powerful learning experience that you will never forget.
