Y.O.G.A. for Youth at the Wright School

This month, Y.O.G.A. for Youth began an 8-week pilot program at the Wright School North Carolina Re-Education Program in Durham.  Run by the NC Department of Health and Human Services Division of State Operated Health Care Facilities, the Wright School provides best practice, cost-effective residential mental health treatment to North Carolina’s children, ages six to twelve, with serious emotional and behavioral disorders; and supports each child’s family and community in building the capacity to meet children’s special needs in their home, school and local community.

The Wright School operates on 12 Principles of Re-Education.  These principles are very compatible with yogic philosophy – life should be lived in the present; competence and self-control are crucial skills that can be developed; habits can be learned and unlearned; intelligence is a dynamic, evolving, and malleable capacity for making good choices in living.

Y.O.G.A. for Youth is grateful for the opportunity to work with the wonderful 6-9 year-olds at the Wright School!  Check out samples of their beautiful photography!
