Hero of the Month: Sat Ardas Singh

JULY 2013

Sat Ardas Singh graduated from the Durham Y.O.G.A. for Youth Teacher Training course in the spring of 2011, and quickly rose to being a Lead Teacher with Y.O.G.A. for Youth.  This summer, he is back by popular demand at the Raleigh-based Justice Theater Projects’ Summer Camps in Raleigh and Durham.  This spring, Sat Ardas served as a Lead Teacher at three of the seven Orange County middle schools in Y.O.G.A. for Youth’s pilot project with Communities In Schools “After 3” afterschool enrichment program for underachieving students.  Sat Ardas serves as a great and inspiring role model for the young men in his classes, making yoga fun AND cool!

From Sat Ardas Singh:

Yoga has: brought me great friends, super wise teachers, and so many good times; helped me grow stronger and more flexible, and allowed me to be fearless and totally devoted; made me more aware of my weaknesses, and helped me to be more compassionate towards myself and others; allowed me to focus on what i really want and let go of those habits and behaviors which do not serve me; given me an experience of my highest self, a taste of my true potential, and provides the technology to support me as i live that truth.  I teach with Y.O.G.A. for Youth because Yoga works.  It can provide the experience of a peaceful heart, a calm mind, and a strong body.  Young people especially must awaken to their own truth: there is a totally unique power and potential within, waiting to be realized.  Yoga can help plant that seed.
